Last week in Dr.Neats class was really interesting. The class was more of an introduction. On wednsday Dr.Neat assigned us partners for the Wednsday Challenge. He explained to us that its more of a group contest where if u win you would get an "A." After getting into our groups we were given the "challenge," which was to make a bridge made entirely of spaghetti and wood glue. Ounce finished we have to see how much water it can hold until it breaks, the group with the most water copacity wins.
Today we worked on our spaghetti bridge. Last time we worked on it we cut 30 2.5inch spaghetti pieces. We used them on 2 long pieces forming triangles because triangles are a very strong shape. We glued them on and we let them dry.
Today was a pretty busy day. I had a few quizzes but all was good. In Dr.Neats class we worked on our spaghetti bridge. Finally we finished making our triangles for our bridge so today was the day we connected them onto our long strands of spghetti forming the bridge.
Today we took a look at sketchup. We got used to using two different tools. We were able to look at a moddle and look at it in different angles.
Today was wednsday which means one thing... wednsday challenge! so we worked on our spaghetti bridge and we are getting close to finishing. We reglued some things that didnt stick and we are waiting to test it soon.
Today we had a friend of Dr.Neat, Mr.Wilton come in and talk about himself. He owns a facory and they make a bunch of cool stuff. Later the vertans came up to the front of the class and talk about the invention challenge from JPL and they showed us a couple of their ideas.
Today i went to my friend Andrew's party. We had a really good time. All 36 of us met up at his house around 7pm. There was a taco truck there which was really good. around 11pm my 3 friends and I thought it would be a good idea to jump in the pool around 11pm.... which we did. Suprisingly the pool wasnt that cold and we had lots of fun. We were jumping off the diving board and doing a lot of cool tricks. We all had a great time and I got home at around 1:20am.
Went over more html. Most was review but we also learned some new things.
Today we worked on our bridge. Dr.Neat was telling us how the spaghetti challenge is gonna go on friday.
Today is wednsday which means one thing.... SPAGHETTI BRIDGE. Today we went over our bridge making sure all the parts are connected.
Today is wednsday so we had our wednsday challenge today. Now todays wednsday challenge was a pretty odd but simple sounding one. We were told to give an idea of a machine we could come up with that can tell the difference between a dog and a cat.
Today Mr.Miller came up to the front of the room and he talked about how our grades are due soon. He was telling us how we would be graded. What else we did is Dr.Neat told us that everybody has to update our live website by today.
Today was friday and today we had the JPL veterans come in and talk about the invention challenge. We also had Mr.Wilton join us. This time the veterans were going over some of their ideas and showed us some designs. They were asking Mr. Wilton some questions and he was able to respond and give the veterans some good ideas and told them what will and what wont work.
Today we did something different. We went over more sketchup and learned a few new tools. We made some buildings using these new tools

Today was wednsday so we got into groups and we began on doing something hands on engineering related. We were told to grab a wood block and try to get its length as close as possible to 2 inches.
Today we began doing the same wood block thing. On our second try we managed to get the closest to 2 inches. We did really well working as a group.
Today was wednsday and we did something pretty fun. We were put into groups and given some pvc pipes and a marble. The groups just seperated half of the class. The goal was to get the marble from one side to another using the pvc pipes to make it roll.
Today we were going over what we needed on our website. Dr.Neat told us that he will be grading this weekend so we are preparing our websites to be graded. Dr.Neat told us about a list he has on his website and the list is a list of things we need for our website.
Today is Friday so that means the JPL challenge crew came in and talked to the class about their ideas and what they have so far. We also had Mr.Wilton come in to give his comments/ideas for the JPL invention challenge. Later on after the presentation, we started working on our websites. Many people were using the "spoons" so it was tough to get my hands on one.
Today Dr.Neat told us that he graded our websites over the weekend. He showed us how he grades them and showed us some examples of great websites created by my peers. He told us how we can improve our websites and said there is always room to improve.
Well hello there.. its been a while. the past week we have been working on our wednsday challenge. So the challenge is to make a bridge out of one thing. We chose to make a bridge out of erasers. The bridge we were supposed to make was an arch bridge. it came out quite nicely.

Today was an expierimental day in Dr.Neats class. We went over how to make jenga blocks and we learned the move tool. the move tool is a very important
tool that we are going to need to use when using sketchup. We were asked to make a staircase out of jenga blocks and it turned out quite nicely. Here's

Today we went over sketchup. We were reviewing on how to make smooth corners so what we did is we made a card. Dr.Neat passed out cards to all of us
so we could measure them. ounce measured we inputted them into sketchup and we made our card. Here is mine.
Today was a really cool day. We had the JPL group come in and show us how far they have gotten. I really liked the way everything was looking. Everybody has come really far.
Today in class we were doing some more sketch up. We were givin something more difficult. Dr.Neat gave me a pencil and i have to put it into sketch up he hasnt given us any instuctons on how to do it. He told us that we have to use everything we have learned to make the pencil.
Today was wednsday so we have a new wednsday challenge. Mr.Miller told us that we have to make a triangle out of straws. The team with the best 90 degree triangle wins. We have two days to come up with a perfect triangle (including today).

Today in class we were going over again how we are graded. Mr.Miller was showing us some great examples on the websites. What else we did was we went over the triangle wednsday challenge.
Today Dr.Neat was checking to see who finished the wednsday challenge form and posted it on our website. I was one of the 3 who had done it so i showed him.
After i showed him he handed me a lego block and told me to put it into sketchup using all the skills we have learned. Thankfully i had Monete model the lego
block for me.
Today was wednsday so we had another wednsday challenge to do. What the challenge was is we had to estimate how many candy corn would fit on a peice of paper. We measued the lenghth and width of the candy corn and we had a better idea of how many could fit.
Today we didnt really do anything more different. What we did do is Dr.Neat told us the winners for the candy corn WC. Our group was WAAAAYYYY off. We most likey messed up on the math when we were calculating our estimate. Here is the WC Form.
Today was friday and that means people from the JPL group came in and talked about their work. Mr.Wilton joined us today aswell. We got to see the Sucker, Kevin Arm, and the rolling car thingy thing... yeah. They all looked good. The Sucker looked like it was having some trouble getting the water through the pipe. The Kevin arm was great but it was splashing too much so they need to see if they can slow it down bit. Last but not least the car thingy.. did great aswell.
Today was a pretty interesting day. In the beginning of class Dr.Neat talked about tacoma bridge in washington. He told us how helpful the bridge was to get over the water. Unfortunatly the bridge had broke because there was harsh wind. Luckily it was caught on video so we got to watch it. He also explained to us that we have to do a project on a bridge of our choice with a partner.
Today was wednsday and we had a wednsday challenge. The challenge was to make an "E" on sketchup with measurements of our choice. Then we are supposed to pass it on to another group.The point of this was to have another group create what u made in sketchup and give it "life."
Today we got around passing our sketchup around. We were supposed to finish creating the "E" in real life out of carboard. Unfortunately the groups "E" that we received
was inputted on sketchup by feet so we werent able to make ours. If we were going to we would have to make a 43 inch long rectangular line for just one of the lines. We
are just hoping that the other group manages to make ours correctly. Heres the WC Form. Oh and by the way... WE WON THE WEDNSDAY CHALLENGE!!!
FRRRIIDDAAAYYY! Today in the beginning of class Mr.Miller showed us a video on engines and how they work. We have Mr.Wilton in again because we are having the JPL group come in and share with us how far they have gotten on their projects. Everybody looks like they are on the right track. I saw a huge improvement on Cole's device. They was a huge difference in his water loss.
Today was wednsday and we had a cool WC involving weight and mass. We got to use folcrum scale to measure two different weights. We were given two different weights . One was a bag of different screw type of stuff.. i really dont know what it was. The other was a block of metal. Holding both on the same time, it was easy to figure out that the metal block was heavier. When they were given to us they were both labeled 1kg.
Today we were finishing up the weight WC. We got our chance to weigh the 2 objects. We were given 2min and we were supposed to be figure out the ratio of the weight. We won the WC because tyler was the only one that talked about how the scale works.
Today is monday and we went over who won the Wc for the E and scale. We some how managed to win BOTH. Today we also worked really hard on updating our websites and working on the WC forms.
Today was wednsday so we had a wednsday challenge. It was a challenge involving adhesives and two metal pieces. We had to pick an adhesive to use and we chose epoxy. So what we did was we got two metal pieces and we were going to test the shear force using a contraption that Mr.Miller built. Our epoxy took a day to dry so we didnt get to test it. Today was just a day to catch up. We worked on our website and we finished up some wednsday challenge forms.
Today was a really fun and cool day. The JPL group came in and talked about their experience at the invention challenge. We got to see some videos of everybody's invention and some were pretty funny. Unfortunately none of our devices won but thats fine. We got to learn from the mistakes we made and we know now to be prepared ahead of time. Overall, it was a fun/funny day.
Today was Wednsday so we have a wednsday challenge thats gonna take 2 days. We are going to design something and another group will be creating the thing we made through sketchup and a word document. The goal is to make the TALLEST structure possible through pretzels graham crackers and marshmellows.

Today Dr.Neat was telling us about the final wedensday challenge where if any group won they would get an A for the semester. The challenge is the same JPL challenge the veterans competed in except, the distand the water has to travel is halfed. The winner of the challenge would have to beat Kevin's score.
Today we were trying to think of some ideas for the Final Wednesday Challenge. We had a few ideas did did'nt really appeal to us. We decided to make our version of the kevin arm.
Today we were thinking of how to make the kevin arm and how to make it our own. We decided we will figure that out as we create the sketchup. So we worked on the sketchup today.
Today everyone was working on the challenge. We were discussing what we need to make our arm more successful than the original. I thought that we should put a lot of work into our funnel so if our arm were to be innaccurate, the funnel would be there to direct the water accuratly.
Today was the first day back after the break. Today has been a really slow day. Everyone does'nt seem to be happy to be back and i dont blame them. Today the Veterans were talking about this other invention challenge where you build a robot and it has to do some things. Robots are competing to get the most points.
Today was an easy going day. Mr.Miller was talking to us about how great google drive is and what it is in general. He was talking about how you can store things on a google account and you can access things from any device with internet access.
Today was wednsday and so we had our Wc challenge. What we had to do is cut out a perfect 1 by 1 foot square from cardboard. Ours turned out alright. Heres the WC Form
Today we were going over how to make websites with google sites. I like it a lot and i think i might switch over from html. We went over how to input text, how to upload files, and how to insert links.
